Louise Park – Guest Presenter at Lyndale Secondary College – April 2024
We had the pleasure of having Louise present to our Years 7 and 8 students.
Louise has written many books, but she is the author of Last Man Out, a book created from the journal entries and letters her grandfather had written whilst he was based at war in Gallipoli and being the Last Man out. In honour of Anzac Day, we wanted to focus on this particular book.
Our students listened attentively and were interested to know more about what our soldiers endured during the war.
Louise’s presentation was informative, interesting, funny and sad. It allowed our students to imagine what life may have been like at war for an average 16 year old.
Our students asked many questions and were keen to know more well after the presentation ended.
I would recommend Louise to any school. She is a fabulous speaker.

'Fun, Humour, Creativity, Drama, Inspiration!! These are just a few descriptors used by our students and staff regarding Louise Park’s recent ‘Book Week Author Visit’ for our Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students. Louise captivated our students’ imaginations and challenged their thoughts on the writing process itself. She encouraged them to ‘think outside the box’ and to take risks to develop their own imaginative, humorous and highly entertaining characters and storylines as well as introducing them to the characters and storylines in her own books! Louise immediately involves the students in her presentations by encouraging them to be an active part of her performance. Our students were totally captivated when she appeared as T-Rex in her Dinosaur ‘D-Bot Squad” suit! They were exhilarated by her performance and the presentation itself! Louise has encouraged our students to continue our school’s ‘Love of Literacy!’ and we loved every minute she spent with us in the school. Not only a highly talented and creative writer but an amazingly motivating person. We can’t wait for her next visit!'
